The original 1978 film based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel Death On The Nile starred Peter Ustinov, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, David Niven and George Kennedy. It appears the remake is going to be equally star-studded.
Gal Gadot and Armie Hammer are the first to jump onboard the sequel to last year’s successful Agatha Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express. They join Kenneth Branagh who returns to direct and star as master detective Hercule Poirot for the sequel. Orient Express scribe Michael Green is also back to adapt.
Death on the Nile takes place on a luxurious cruise on the Nile River where a wealthy heiress is murdered. Fortunately, among the passengers are famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot and his trusted companion, Colonel Race who immediately begin their investigation. But just as Poirot identifies a motley collection of would-be murderers, several of the suspects also meet their demise, which only deepens the mystery of the killer’s identity.
