‘Days Of Our Lives’ Gay Character Comes Out To His Parents

‘Days Of Our Lives‘ covered the process of coming out in a recent episode where Will Horton (Chandler Massey), son of Sami (Alison Sweeney) & Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) comes out to them.
As is unfortunately the case sometimes, the coming out doesn’t go so well. As it turns out, Sami (his mother) is completely caught of guard and at first doesn’t even believe that he’s gay. Then she leaves the room because she feels like she can’t talk about it and doesn’t know how to deal with it. Lucas (his father) ends up being the one to stand by him and talk his son through it. After some discussion with EJ Wells (James Scott), Sami realizes that her son needs her more than ever.
I have to say, ‘Days Of Our Lives’ did a great job of showing the process of coming out from all angles and how each person dealt with it differently. I expect that there’ll be some GLAAD Award nominations for this episode for sure. Watch the scenes below.

Haha, wow. I remember watching this show with my Mom each morning before preschool. Given that Will’s Grandma was once possessed by the Devil, you think Sami would have taken his coming out a little easier =P.

Holy shit watching this video reminds me a lot like my coming out a couple months ago. I seriously went through this exact scenario and my mom had the same reaction as sami. Thanks for posting this Patrick, I’m totally weirded out now LOL!

The coming out moments were well handled and realistic. The DOOL writers did a great job. The only thing I didn’t care for was how they made Will kind of a douche to Sami. The things he was saying to Sami were wrong. And that was before he came out to her. I wouldn’t say Sami was or is a perfect mother, but she didn’t deserve that. I think that’s why she had the reaction she did.
