gay-love

The following poems were written at a time of closure for me; yet they opened my eyes more-so. The first one was written along with some new friends of mine; students from Bethlehem Pennsylvania involved in their Gay Straight Alliance. It is just a small part of what they, and other GSA’s are doing for Day of Silence April 16 th 2010. The second one I wrote: It could very well be about any two people; however, when I posted it to my wall on facebook, automatically it was assumed it was written for a man and a woman. In so many peoples eyes still; Love seems to be only allowed to be shared between a man and a woman.

Let there be No Shame

Let there be no shame
No hate
No blame
Support your friend’s
We’re all the same

Gay or straight
Love is love
Hearts beat the same
There is no shame in love
There is no one to blame
We are all people
We all feel the same

We feel love
We want love
We all need to be loved

A Lullaby for Grown ups

The sun has set and now shines the moon
On the radio plays a a familiar tune

A song we both danced to; a song we both do love
I look outside my window and at the stars above

I fluff my pillows and turn down the sheets
Waiting on when dreamscapes meet

The pillow beside me; your scent still lingers
On my back I swear; I still feel your fingers

I reach and turn out my bed sight light
Hoping and knowing that you are alright

The sun has set and now shines the moon
I slip out of bed and dance that familiar tune

The moon shines through my window pain
I hope we both can dance again.

I slow dance with myself and I think of you
I know we loved each other; that much I know is true

A familiar tunes that ends; I climb back in my bed
“I love you “ the final words we said

The pillow beside me; your scent still lingers
On my back I swear; I still feel your fingers

I sing this lullabye I wrote
I know the tune; note by note.

I wrote this song for you and for you alone
I dream of dancing nice and slow, just you and me alone
