Oprah’s Next Chapter has been hit or miss at times for me. For every Rihanna interview, there’s a ridiculous comment comparing Justin Bieber to The Beatles. Regardless of quality inconsistency with her chats, there is no denying Oprah Winfrey’s increased onscreen presence on OWN has reignited the network which has consistently seen month-to-month ratings increases. There is no doubt that momentum will continue when her chat with David Letterman airs on January 6, 2013. Boffo ratings will definitely result.
Everyone likes to think that the Letterman-Winfrey feud began at the Academy Awards when the late night talk show famously bombed on a joke introducing Oprah to Uma Thurman. While horrible, I highly doubt a 16 year feud resulted from that. Legend has it that it began when Letterman and his girlfriend decided to skip out on a bill, tricking the waiter into thinking Oprah agreed to pay it. LOL. Whatever the reason it began, it continued until a little thing called the Super Bowl brought them together.
In 2007, the duo appeared on a couch wearing Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears jerseys. Soon after that, the two appeared on each other’s respective talk shows. Most recently, Winfrey sat down with Letterman for his Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series at Ball State University. Now, the two are once again sitting down. This time on Oprah’s turf. Check out the preview below along with what they’re reportedly chatting about. It’s good.
As you can see, Letterman opens up for the first time about his infamous sex scandal and the extortion plot from one of his staffers. He also talks about his battle with depression, his rivalry with Jay Leno, his marriage and how his feud with Oprah really began. I can’t wait. Will you be tuning in on January 6? Sound off below.

Yikes he was looking pretty flustered (in a carefully edited 30 second preview) but even so this looks like it’ll be interesting. I thought the whole feud nonsense was dead and buried now and I kind of wish he hadn’t gone into the cheating scandal because he handled that so masterfully on his own show. Haha Uma, Oprah, Keanu.

I’ll definitely be tuning in on the sixth. I love the fact that they are now once again friends, after a long standing rivalry. I would love to find out what exactly caused the rivalry to begin with. This is going to be classic. My DISH coworker first told me about this interview so I knew I wouldn’t be missing it. I won’t be home when it airs so I’ll be recording it on my DISH Hopper. This DVR can record and store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment so I never worry about running out of room.
