daniel-rohr-desk

This desk, designed by Germany’s Daniel Rohr, is freakin’ sexy. The colander table/desk is made out of a single piece of polished aluminum weighing almost a ton (899 pounds or 408 kg) before it is carved.

The process is not so simple for a piece like this. It actually takes four weeks to complete from beginning to end. Using CNC Milling (computer controlled vertical mill) they are able to puncture 909 holes in the table and shape smooth edges, giving it that curved shape. Rohr says the space between the plate glass top & the metal bowl makes any object that is set upon the table look like its hovering above the desk – nice touch!

Wanna buy one? Well you better be rich because there are only 10 of these masterpieces and they won’t go for cheap.
