Chances of Daniel Craig playing the iconic spy one more time seemed unlikely after Spectre arrived in theaters. “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists” than return for another film he stated in 2015. Since then, he’s played coy about returning to the franchise, despite the studio setting a release date of November 8, 2019 in the US for Bond 25. Even just this week, the 49-year-old actor was non-committal.
Asked about his 007 involvement on WMMR’s Preston & Steve show Tuesday morning, Craig said, “I hate to burst the bubble on that one. There’s no decision made just yet. I’m not trying to be coy with you, but there’s a lot of noise out there at the moment and I’m trying to stay out of it. There’s a lot of nonsense being said and I’m just like — I read the papers, like, ‘I said, what?’ It’s all news to me.”
That all changed that evening. While promoting his new film, Logan Lucky, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Craig finally confirmed he’s playing 007 for a fifth time. Watch Daniel finally spill the beans in the video below, around the 1:30 mark.
Glad that Craig will star in another Bond film? Or do you think it’s time for him to pass the baton? Weigh in below.
