Throughout the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, only two countries outside Eurasia have competed- Morocco in 1980 and Australia in 2015. The latter’s participation in last year’s competition was initially announced as a one-off event. Well, The Land Down is back and back with a vengeance.
Not that I’ve heard any other entries from other countries yet, but “Sound of Silence” sounds like a serious contender for the win. The X Factor Australia winner Dami Im absolutely slays the vocals on the mid-tempo ballad. The song should, at the very least match, if not succeed, the country’s entry last year. The Guy Sebastian track, “Tonight Again,” placed in fifth place. Hopefully, Australia’s invitation to the competition is a permanent one now. Especially, if they keep churning out submissions like this.
Check out the accompanying visual below. The Korean-Aussie singer emotes her little heart out while a shirtless dance prances around her.
