“ASK AND TELL!! ASK AND TELL!! A big step in the right direction for the U.S.” That’s the current Facebook status of a good friend of mine – and he’s Canadian! Regardless of where we are in this world, we’re all very happy on this momentous day.

It’s an exciting day today in the United States that after almost 18 years, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has been repealed. Troops can now publicly reveal that they’re gay without fear of official retribution. Seems like a no brainer to me! It’s another huge step in the direction of equality for the LGBT community in the U.S. The new law officially took effect today at 12:01 a.m. EDT.

I came across a video of how some veterans’ lives were affected when living under DADT. Now that the law has been repealed, the are speaking out about how things will now be changed for the better – in countless ways. It’s actually a very touching video. Congratulations, citizens of the U.S.!
