Not only did she lose the American Idol title, but she also lost her boyfriend. Just weeks ago during Shania Twain week, Crystal Bowersox publicly encouraged her man (Tony Kusian) to man up and pop the question. Guess that plan failed. Reports say, Mamasox’s dude broke things off just hours before the first night of American Idol 9 finale. WOW. Way harsh dude.
According to People.com, Kusian wasn’t comfortable with Crystal’s new life and her new fast-paced lifestyle. Bowersox explained to the media that Tony is just a small town boy who loves living in a small town. While she stated she’s also small town, her music is her passion and this is what she’s wanted for so long. Considering the timing of the breakup, Crystal is taking it pretty and claimed that they will always be friends. Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi gave the runner-up some advice during a radio interview. This is what Kara advised:
“You have to do your music,” she her. “It’s not a choice for you. It’s what makes you whole. If somebody can’t hang with that — I’m sure he’s a lovely guy but right now this is your dream.”
This is sage advice considering her new record deals. Just hours after the finale, both Lee DeWyze and she signed recording contracts with 19 Recordings. In addition to 19 Recordings, DeWyze signed with RCA Records while Bowersox signed with Jive Records. No word on when their debut albums will be released, but you can safely bet that both CDs will be available during the 2010 holiday season.
