Glee’s Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) fell for him twice, so it was only natural that I fall in “crush” with the curly haired actor as well. 25-year-old Jonathan Groff made his debut on “Glee” this week as Vocal Adrenaline’s lead singer, Jesse St. James. As promised by Glee producer Ryan Murphy, Jonathan’s character is definitely a MIVA.

Groff who’s primarily known as a stage actor has appeared in both television and film before his “Glee” gig. He’s acted on the daytime serial “One Life To Live” and the TV movie, “Pretty/Handsome” which was directed and written by “Glee” producer, Ryan Murphy. Guess that’s how he got his new high-profile TV job. On film he’s starred in Ang Lee’s “Taking Woodstock” and later this year, he is scheduled to appear in Robert Redford’s “The Conspirator”.

As mentioned earlier, the openly-gay actor was a Broadway fixture. He originated the role of Melchoir Gabor in “Spring Awakening” which he co-starred with Lea Michele. The role earned him a Tony nomination but lost to David Hyde Pierce. After spending almost two years in the role, he moved on to Shakespeare in the Park’s production of “Hair”. Once his stint on “Glee” is over, he’s returning back to his stage roots and heading across the pond to London’s West End. There he will star in “Deathtrap” as Clifford.

The Pennsylvanian born hottie’s star will undoubtedly rise after his turn as Jesse St. James. Personally, I kinda like Rachel dating Jesse even though we all know he’s up to no good and will definitely break the New Directions’ fragile heart. The chemistry the two share is captivating and is probably a product of their years together in “Spring Awakening”. Below is a picture from their days on Broadway.

It wouldn’t be a “weekly crush” post if it didn’t include a gratuitous shirtless shot. Unfortunately this was the best I could find. Oh well, it’s his voice and curly hair that drew him and not his six-pack abs.

So is Jonathan crush worthy? Are you loving him on “Glee” as much as me? Weigh in with your comments and thoughts below.
