With Mean Girls being a critical and commercial success on Broadway, it’s only natural that another beloved teen flick make its way to the Great White Way. Amy Heckerling is adapting her beloved film Clueless for a limited Off-Broadway engagement beginning November. The musical adaptation just announced its leading lady and entire cast
Dove Cameron (center below), best known for her roles in Disney’s Liv and Maddie and The Descendants along with Hairspray Live!, will play Cher Horowitz made famous by Alicia Silverstone in the 90s cult classic. Rounding out the cast are Ephie Aardema (left below) and Zurin Villaneueva (right below) who will be playing Tai and Dion respectively. The late Brittany Murphy and Stacey Dash brought the characters to life in the original film.
Also appearing in the musical are Dave Thomas Brown (Josh), Lori Alan (Miss Geist/Ms. Stoeger), Sara Andreas (Heather), Gilbert L. Bailey II (Murray), Will Connolly (Travis), Danielle Marie Gonzalez (Lucy), Tessa Grady (Amber), L’ogan J’ones (Max), Chris Hoch (Mel, others), Darius Jordan Lee (Sean) and Justin Mortelliti (Christian). Ensemble/swing will include Tiffany Engen, Katie Goffman, Talya Groves, Jeff Kuhr and Brett Thiele.
Directed by Kristin Hanggi with book by Heckerling, the music featured in the production will be “re-imaginings” of ’90s hits. Clueless: The Musical will run from November 20 to January 13 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.
