This stuff just cracks me up. “Gaga did it first!” “Christina did it first!” As I’ve said before, it doesn’t really matter – I don’t think anyone has to be in any one box because that’s what people think they should do. Nor do I think I can’t wear a brand of sunglasses because I someone else wearing them. In fact, because I saw them wearing them, it may inspire me to get them myself because I thought they look good.
Anyway, without getting into all over again (see comments on this article), I thought I’d share this video I came across today that highlights the many looks that Christina had before Lady Gaga, where the same argument could be made for Lady Gaga copying Christina. Skip the ranting at the beginning of the video by fast forwarding to just over the one minute mark. If anything, it’s an interesting flashback at their many looks.

^== Agreed. I love Gaga, but again, Christina was crossing the boundaries first. Some people just happened to forget what Christina did, because she had taken a hiatus to take care of her baby.

What’s annoying about this whole “Christina did it first” is that people are forgetting that Cher, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and even Marilyn Manson (just to name a few) were all doing these “omg!” looks before Christina. Yes, there are a lot of similarities between the two artist’s work, but it doesn’t mean that one didnt pull inspiration from another before them. You think Christina was the first to wear head dresses… Hello! Bob Mackie and cher! Lady Gaga wearing Kermit the Frog… Has anyone seen old Elton John performances? He used to wear crazy costumes/outfits all the time.
So in closing, Christina wasn’t the first and Gaga won’t be the last. Oh, and the first pic of Grace Jones in that video isn’t even Grace, it’s Lil Kim, WHO was also wearing crazy stuff before others.

Ok, this video is REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACHING quite a bit. And don’t forget, Gaga has never said she hasn’t taken influences from artists Like David Bowie and Grace Jones etc.
The problem with Christina, is that she’s such an arrogant twat about it all, claiming she doesn’t even know who gaga was or if she was a man or a woman. She’s just being a big baby about it.
and Alex is right, Cher, Madonna & Cyndi were the first. But this video is REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACHING.

Alex, the reason why we keep drawing the comparison between Gaga and Christina isn’t because we forgot about Madonna and Lauper. It’s because a certain someone (ahem, Tommy) decided to rant about Christina copying Gaga with her latest video. I don’t think we’re dumb enough to really forget who did what first.

Jared, I don’t think y’all are dumb at all, but that video wasn’t made by a homorazzi cast member, even though it was posted by one.
So really my post is in response to whomever made the video and how ridiculous it is to be comparing just gaga and Christina. If your gonna do it then why not call gaga (or Christina) out on copying EVERYONE before them. OR JUST DROP IT BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO THINK ABOUT…

i cannot believe that people would even say that we will forget who made who first but the comparison is only between two girls.
we all know that madonna, cher, cyndi, grace did it all before but between gaga and xtina, the latter did it before the former. but it makes sense that people often forget it because the latter had greater talents compared to just dressing up high fashion (?) (c’mon??!?!?! kermit the frog dress?).
and again gays will never forget who started it all but between these two? all i can say is i prefer talent than gloss

This is kinda funny.
And I think this whole GaGa-Christina feud is idiotic. GaGa wears these crazy outfits, and Christina wore similar things, but This video Is kinda saying “I wors these shoes before you. You cant wear them” I get the point, but if ouyr going to make something like this, do it for more than the same shoes, sitting on a horse, or taking off a white Robe. This video really doesnt make me think differently it only makes me think that Xtina and her fans get offended extremely easily (no offense to anyone in particular).
Also, This reminds me of the whole Boy George/Pete Burns Feud. Remember what Boy George said, “It’s not who did it first, it’s who did it better”

I find this whole comparison thing very silly. Many people love Gaga for her ‘Avant Garde’ looks, but to be honest I am not impressed. I have seen it done many times before and done better. Yes Cher, Madonna, Elton John, Grace Jones and Cyndi did it first. I am also adding Bjork to the list as well.
Even other females artists who are not as well known in Mainstream Pop music ‘did it before Gaga’ ie Goldfrapp especially during her Black Cherry/ Supernature albums, Roisin Murphy solo and with Moloko and Karen O.
I think that a lot of Gaga’s fans (not all) are either too young to know the originators or have never really explored music outside of mainstream pop. So they have very little visual references for comparison. If they did, then it wouldn’t just be about Aguilera/Gaga.
Honestly you like what you like, there is nothing wrong with that.

Don’t forget about Dale Bozzio, she, more than anyone else, has certainly influenced Lady Gaga.
This feud is ridiculous, both women know where they get their influences from. I’m sure neither of them is assuming that “did it first.” So it just bubbles down to who’s doing it better.
I just think that Christina is taking it waaaay to personally and is being immature about the entire thing. This video was a rip off, and I’m not talking about the wardrobe. If she wants to stand out, she can’t be replicating Lady Gaga’s videos.
