The anticipation was high for Christina Aguilera to let her vocal chords wail as she sang the National Anthem at the world’s largest stage, the Super Bowl. She started off strong and had everyone in the stadium tapped in. And then, suddenly, a line from the famous anthem suddenly was re-written by Aguilera herself.
When she was supposed to sing “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming…”, she instead sang a remixed version of another line and came out like this: “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming…” And the look on the faces of the players and spectators was one to remember.
Today, Christina apologized for the error saying “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.” In an interview when the news of her singing the anthem was released, she mentioned she had been singing the song since she was seven and was excited to be apart of this huge event. I guess she should have practiced for one more year. What did you think of Christina’s anthem flop?
