Cher Announces Musical Based On Her Life Heading To Broadway In 2018

Alanis Morissette and her Jagged Little Pill aren’t the only new game in town. Cher is also jumping on the Great White Way bandwagon. The 71-year-old legend enthusiastically announced a Broadway musical based on her life is coming to the stage in 2018. Songs from her extensive career will appear in the production.

Jason Moore, who directed the musical Avenue Q and hit film Pitch Perfect, will helm the show based on a book by Jersey Boys writer Rick Elice. According to the New York Post, “Cher: The Musical” chronicles her life, starting with her hard-scrabble childhood in Los Angeles, where her mother waited tables. Cher always knew she wanted to be famous, and got a job as a backup singer as a teenager. She met Sonny Bono in 1962, and the musical shows how they shrewdly climbed their way to the top of the music business, later becoming household names with “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” on television. After their 1975 divorce, Cher reinvented herself as a pop icon and movie star.”

Do you believe in life after love? If not then, you will be. I have no doubt this project will be a huge success. Who doesn’t love the enduring Cher? Not anyone I know. Are you as giddy about this musical as I am? Share your thoughts below.
