Cher Joins ‘Mamma Mia’ Sequel, Reuniting With Meryl Streep

Cher and Meryl Streep both earned Oscar nominations when they teamed up for Silkwood in 1983. Over three decades later, the living legends are reuniting for a much different affair.

Daily Mail reports Cher is set to appear in the Mamma Mia sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. It marks the 71-year-old entertainer’s first film role since Burlesque back in 2010.

Reportedly, Cher is in London rehearsing choreography sequences. The cast, who have been shooting on locations in Croatia, will join Cher on the dance floor set up at Shepperton Studios later this week.

Details on her role and what ABBA songs she’s performing are being kept under wraps. An executive connected to the film did tease to the publication, “Cher’s our secret weapon. It’ll spoil the fun if we give anything away.”

News of Cher’s involvement shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Her social media post a couple of days ago practically spilled the beans. Check it out below.

Excited to see Cher in the Mamma Mia sequel? Fingers crossed there’s a scene where Meryl and Cher duet with each other. It would be insane if there wasn’t. Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again arrives July 20, 2018. Weigh in below.
