Charice Joins Glee Club!

Filipino Internet YouTube sensation, Charice (Charice Pempengco) has had an interesting ride so far. First popular for singing on YouTube, then getting to be on Ellen, and most recently made her second appearance on Oprah – this 18 year old is now going to be on Glee! Incredible!
Her manager, Grace Mendoza, has confirmed that she has signed on to be a regular in the upcoming season of Glee. “And not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season,” says Mendoza.
You may have heard her hit song, Pyramid on the dancefloor – but if you haven’t, check it out. It’s awesome.
UPDATE: Her Mendoza had confirmed Glee, but her other manager Marc Johnston has not and at this point there is not truth to her being on Glee at all.

umm. correction. her most recent appearance on Oprah was her 5th already. David Foster has her backing (and she’s compared to the likes of Whitney Houston and Celine Dion–both discovered and made famous by Mr. Foster himself)

I think she’s just recently denied this. Personally, I don’t know how I’d like her since I don’t know what kinda role she could fit in to. And her being on Glee seems a little bit desperate for US cred. Her career in the US could be arguably considered “meh” at best.

I like this song and it reminds me of Jordin Sparks & Jojo. She may not have a huge career with the older age demographic but I’m sure she’ll be big with the tweens. The same demographic that made Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber & The Jonas Brothers famous.

Redd, I think I have to disagree with all due respect. The tweens demographic at the moment, unfortunately, is preoccupied with looks and less with talents. Selena, Miley, Bieber, the Jo Bros, and Demi all have that typical mainstream good looks that served as the basis for their fame. While Charice is definitely not ugly by any standards, she does not have such stereotypical “beauty” those possess. Not to mention her music–at least until now–lack good promotion despite her having a Whitney-level voice.
