Last week, the rumor was that Channing Tatum would be getting the title of People Magazine‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2012 and today it has become official. The magazine hit newsstands today with Channing Tatum on the cover.

“My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me,'” Tatum told the magazine, who married actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009. “I told Jenna after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked.” Personally, I’m not surprised given the roles he had over the past year, especially playing one of the leads in Magic Mike and nearly baring it all.

Channing seems ready to move into a DILF role as he talks about having kids as well. “I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” Tatum, 32, says. “The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.”

Tatum is currently working on a movie called Foxcatcher where he plays an Olympic athlete. “I like to be lean. If I get too bulky I can’t move well and I like to move,” explains the 195-pound hottie. “When I’m not training, I get really round and soft.”

I didn’t know much about the movie Foxcatcher, so I decided to look it up. It’s a movie that about the true story of John du Pont (Steve Carell), who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and killed Olympic wrestler David Schultz (Mark Ruffalo). Tatum plays Mark Schultz, David’s brother. They were the first American brothers to each win gold medals in the same Olympics, and likewise the only American brothers to win World and Olympic Championships.
