The CW heavily promoted the Arrow series premiere by showing footage of Stephen Amell masterfully climbing the salmon ladder, shirtless of course. That’s why I tuned in. It’s only fitting, the 35-year-old actor is competing on the first celebrity edition of American Ninja Warrior.
Amell and several stars will tackle the grueling obstacle course all in the name of charity. The segment will air as part of NBC’s annual Red Nose Day special which raises money and awareness to help children living in poverty in America and around the world.
Each celebrity will pair up with an elite ninja, who’ll serve as both coach and cheerleader. In Amell’s case, he’s been assigned the darling of the competition, Kacy Catanzaro. The other celebrity/ninja pairings are dancer Derek Hough (Daniel Gil), actress Erika Christensen (Flip Rodriguez), news anchor Natalie Morales (Grant McCartney), Olympian Ashton Eaton (Kevin Bull), comedian/TV host Nikki Glaser (Jessie Graff), former Yankees slugger Nick Swisher (Drew Drechsel), comedian Jeff Dye (Meagan Martin) and actress Mena Suvari (Natalie Duran).
Which celebrity do you think will perform best on the Floating Steps and the other obstacles? Watch all the action go down on Thursday, May 25 on NBC.
