CBS Cancels ‘Criminal Minds’

Elementary isn’t the only long-running CBS drama bidding adieu. Criminal Minds just booked a one-way ticket to the television graveyard. The eye network has canceled the crime series. The 15th and final season, airing next season, will consist of 10 episodes.

“It’s really bittersweet, but I’m so, so grateful to CBS for giving us this heads-up,” showrunner Erica Messer told TVLine about the final season news. “I think one of my biggest fears was always, ‘Oh man, what if we don’t know’ and then they just don’t bring back the show? But they respect this series and the cast and the crew and the fans enough to end this properly.”

Criminal Minds stars Joe Mantengna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler and Adam Rodriguez. It first premiered back in 2005 and spawned a couple of spinoffs- Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. When it airs its season finale, it will have 325 episodes under its belt.

It’s about time. So many good characters left or were killed off. So farewell CM.
