Cardi B Dethrones Taylor Swift On Billboard Hot 100 & Makes History

There’s a new queen on the Billboard Hot 100 and it’s Cardi B. The 24-year-old rapper dethrones Taylor Swift to take pole position on the prestigious chart.

After a three-week run on top, Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” drops to No. 3, making room for Cardi B’s crossover hit “Bodak Yellow” to shoot to the top. She becomes the first female rapper to land a number one hit without a featured artist since Lauryn Hill did so with “Doo Wop (That Thing)” back in 1998. Not even Nicki Minaj has achieved that feat. The closest she got was with “Anaconda” which peaked at No. 2 in 2014.

Cardi B wasn’t the only act to make Billboard history this week. Korean boy band BTS became the first K-Pop act to crack the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Their new album, which is actually an EP, titled Love Yourself: Her debuted at No. 7 with 31,000 album equivalent units.

Congrats to Cardi B and BTS. Check out this week’s Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 below.
