It was a big night for Camila Cabello at the 2018 American Music Awards Tuesday night. The 21-year-old singer walked away with four statues including New Artist Of The Year and Video Of The Year for “Havana.” Just hours after her wins, the former Fifth Harmony singer debuted the music video for her latest single “Consequences.”
Prior to the clip release for “Consequences,” Cabello shared a new orchestral arrangement for the track. “A lot of people say ballads like this are ‘risky’ and with every single I’ve picked I get looks like I have three heads, because people always want you to go with a song that sounds like something that’s already on the radio,” Camila wrote in a statement.
“It would be playing it safe for me to make a song that sounds like ‘Havana‘ or another uptempo song, but to me, my goal is to challenge myself by not doing what feels predictable or obvious, to do things that excite me, and give you the most honest representation of who I am through music,” Camila added. “I know sometimes it’ll work and other times it’ll fail, but that’s okay with me.”
Directed by Dave Meyers, the visual is an elegant affair like the new orchestral arrangement. Camila nurses her broken heart while have a brisk walk during a beautiful fall day. As she walks through the park, she reminisces about her past lover played by Dylan Sprouse of Riverdale fame. It shows off a more mature side of Camila. Give it a view below.
