Word to the wise. Don’t piss off Florence Welch. In the newly-released music video for “Sweet Nothing“- a collaboration with Calvin Harris– the Florence and the Machine frontwoman exacts revenge on a man who’s done her wrong. The man in question seems to be an abusive boyfriend. Calvin Harris is seen paying an East London gang, instructing them to give Welch’s BF a taste of his own medicine.
Director Vincent Haycock filmed the clip at a Working Men’s Club in Dalston, London and on the streets outside the joint. Welch channels Annie Lennox circa early Eurythmics era by donning a man’s suit and pulling her back. As her performance progresses, the 26-year-old singer slowly sheds her clothing to reveal her scantily-clad body and eventually writhes on stage. Who knew Flo had it in her?
“Sweet Nothing” is from Calvin Harris’ upcoming studio album, 18 Months, scheduled to hit stores on October 29 in the UK. The Scottish DJ’s new effort will feature other collaborations including Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah, Kelis, Dizzie Rascal and “We Found Love” cohort, Rihanna.
