Reynolds is best known for his roles in such films like Deliverance, The Longest Yard (both the original and remake), Smokey And The Bandit, The Cannonball Run, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Boogie Nights. His small screen credits include Gunsmoke and Evening Shade.
At the height of his career in the late 70s and early 80s, Reynolds was Hollywood’s top-grossing star every year from 1978 through 1982. In 1978, he had four movies playing in theaters at the same time.
Reynolds was equally known for the roles he declined including Han Solo in Star Wars, Terms of Endearment and John McClane in Die Hard. Those roles eventually went to Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson and Bruce Willis respectively.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
