Paramount Drops First ‘Bumblebee’ Trailer Starring Hailee Steinfeld & John Cena

Every adventure has a beginning.

Bumblebee serves as a prequel to the first Transformers film released back in 2007. It’s the first film in the franchise not to be directed by Michael Bay, though he’ll be involved as a producer.

Twenty years before the events of the first film, in 1987, Bumblebee takes refuge in a small California beach town junkyard. A teenage girl named Charlie Watson learns that it is no ordinary Volkswagen Beetle. Hailee Steinfeld plays Charlie while John Cena steps in to portray Burns, an agent of Sector 7.

I honestly haven’t watched a Transformers flick since the first one, but this one looks pretty good. I’m glad Bumblebee looks more like the version kids fell in love with back in the 80s.

The Travis Knight-directed sci-fi film arrives this Christmas on December 21. Check out the first teaser trailer below. Be sure to stay til the end to see what Bumblebee does when a Rick Astley cassette is inserted in his deck. Let’s just say he’s not a fan of the Rick Roll.
