Karma’s a bitch, buddy! Grammy winning Reggae singer Buju Banton has just been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a 2009 cocaine trafficking deal. The Tampa, Florida judge dismissed a gun conviction he had as well, which likely would have added an additional five years onto his sentence. Banton’s lawyer, David Markus, told the American Press that with good behavior and time served, he could potentially be out in six years. I’m in no rush to see this guy roaming free.
“The days that lie ahead are filled with despair, but I have courage and grace and I’m hopeful, and that is sufficient to carry me through. The man is not dead. Don’t call him a ghost,” said 38 year old Banton.
In case you don’t know who this guy is and why I said “Karma’s a bitch,” he is the most anti-gay musician there is. Chris Brown is nothing compared to this guy. He talks about beating, burning, and murdering gays in his lyrics. I’m glad he’s behind bars and that his days ahead are “filled with despair”.
I’m sure GLAAD is VERY glad to hear about this. With Banton behind bars… “That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for
mankind gays.” (Even though we didn’t put him behind bars, we’ll take it).
