BRIT Awards 2010

Well it was a little easier to see in this part of the world, but the annual BRIT Awards on Tuesday really confirmed a lot of my preconceived notions, including this crazy idea that somehow some of the best live performances just come from the lavishness that the Brits put in.

Awards were handed out deservedly, and the beautiful Lily Allen saw her first award for Best Solo Female artist. Girl also did a noteworthy performance, giant staircase included (a la her live show) and performed  The Fear to a screaming crowd. Little band Kasabian won best British Group, and my new goddess Florence and the Machine took the Best British Album.

Course no surprise that the Gaga was the big winner of the evening walking away with three awards: Best International Female, International Album, and International Breakthrough Act. Girl also WORKED IT OUT with one of the strangest performances of her career, performing an acoustic version of Telephone, and an interlude of Dance In The Dark in honour of Alexander Mcqueen’s recent death. Unfortunately for Mcqueen, Gaga decided to accidentally flash her clamshell to the audience. Yup. Gaga’s vagigi. You’re gonna have to find it on your own, i’m NOT linking to it.

Highlight of the evening was the mashup between Dizzee Rascal and Florence Welch (of The Machine). They integrated their styles together so well you would’ve thought they were singing one song, not two. Girl has a set of PIPES!!!! I could see that woman live over and over again and not get sick of hearing her belt a few notes out.

Watch the vid’s below and know that our neighbors across the water own up to some very serious talent.
