If you don’t have kids or a niece or nephew, you’re probably not a frequent watcher of the Disney Channel. In which case, you’ve probably never heard of Bridgit Mendler. This Disney star is starting to make mainstream pop waves with her debut single which I seriously can’t get enough of. It’s titled Ready Or Not and is definitely one of the strongest teenage Disney stars-turned pop music maven debuts I’ve heard.

Now to be fair, this song may not be for everyone and to be honest, I have the music taste of a 12-year-old white girl. But hey, I’m not ashamed. Bridgit’s fame stems from her lead role on the hit Disney Channel show, Good Luck, Charlie. The show centers around Bridgit’s character, Teddy Duncan, creating a video diary for her baby sister, giving her tips on growing up, how to be a teenager and dealing with family.

Mendler will release her debut album, Hello, My Name Is… on October 22 with Ready Or Not serving as the lead-off single. Bridgit says about the single, “It’s a fun song about a girl who is feeling like she has been the wallflower her whole life and she wants to go out there and take charge. It has the romantic element of her going for the guy rather than waiting for the world to come to her.” The accompanying video shows a playful Mendler going on a scavenger hunt throughout LA.
