After Bridesmaids grossed over $288 million dollars at the box office, became the top R-Rated female comedy of all time and got nominated for scads of awards, its no wonder the studio who released it (Universal) is interested in attempting a sequel. A rep from the studio told The Hollywood Reporter, “We are over the moon with the success of “Bridesmaids,” and if we do a sequel we want to get it right. We are talking to filmmakers now about concepts, and if the right one emerges, we’ll move forward.”

Judd Apatow is also onboard saying “The key is we have to come up with an idea that is as good or better than the first one. We don’t want to do it unless it can be great. I don’t think anyone has had the brain space to think about it yet. Hopefully that can begin this? year.” But, rumor has it that the movie is going to be missing one of its big stars.

According to some inside sources, the lead gals raised their eyebrows when they received their bonus cheques and only $100,000 was printed on it. Thinking that one of the stars was going to pull out due to the numbers, Universal chief Ron Meyer wine and dined her and waved an eight-figure sum in front of her to try and convince her to jump on board. The result? A big, fat, N-O. So, who’s not coming back for round two? Find out below.

Unfortunately, I’m sad to say that it’s Kristen Wiig. Kristen told THR, “we’re not working on that. Annie and I aren’t planning a sequel. We are writing something else.” While I am super excited for this “something else”, I don’t know how much I will enjoy a sequel without Kristen’s hilarity. What do you think? Vote below.

Will Bridesmaids 2 work without Kristen Wiig?
