After great review and a lot of word of mouth advertising for the film, The Help took the top spot at the box office this weekend, in it’s second week in theatres. It’s expected to continue doing well in the weeks to come.
Believe it or not, there were actually four new films at the box office this weekend – and none of which were very strong. Spy Kids: All The Time In The World brought in just over $12 million and Conan the Barbarian only brought in $10 million. That’s a very week opening for that type of movie. Fright Night only brought in $8.3 million. The original version opened to $6.1 million in 1985, working out to $13.6 million when adjusting for inflation. Looks like that was a dud too. I can’t say that I was even the least bit interested in watching that film.
Lastly, One Day starring Anne Hathaway opened this weekend to just over $5 million. This figure isn’t that bad actually as the film was shown in far fewer locations than the aforementioned ones.
