Shia LaBeouf Channels A Tennis Legend In ‘Borg Vs McEnroe’ Clip

The Battle Of The Sexes starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell isn’t the only upcoming film about a legendary tennis match. There’s another one about an epic battle that took place at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships between two giants of the game.

Borg Vs. McEnroe puts the spotlight on the fabled rivalry between Swedish sensation Björn Borg and hot-tempered American phenom John McEnroe. Many described their on-court dynamic as “fire and ice.” The two tennis superstars played a total of 14 official matches from 1978 to 1981. The well-paired duo both walked away with seven victories each.

Shia LaBeouf channels McEnroe while Sverrir Gudnason portrays Borg. Shia is perfectly cast, IMHO, due to well-documented reports of the 31-year-old actor flipping his lid. Stellan Skarsgård also stars in the tennis biopic. In a bit of fun casting, Leo Borg, the athlete’s son depicts his father during his preteen years.

A new clip for Borg vs McEnroe recently dropped. Check it out below.
