With The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys miniseries scoring huge numbers on cable, naturally networks are searching for the next big thing. Lifetime, History Channel and A&E are all banking Bonnie & Clyde is the one. The remake will air on all three networks later this year.
On May 23, 1934, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were mowed down by pursuing lawmen. The thieves became pop culture icons when Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty portrayed them in the 1967 motion picture hit. Since then, numerous homages have been made, adding to the couple’s mythology.
Stepping into Dunaway and Beatty’s fashionable shoes are Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) and Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer). Also appearing in the remake is Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland playing Blanche Barrow, the wife of Clyde’s brother Buck. He’s portrayed by Lane Garrison (Prison Break).
