Recently, Tyrell and I checked out the opening of Bombay Brow Bar at the Shangri-La Hotel here in Vancouver. Given that I have a skincare & grooming store, I believe it’s important to keep yourself looking and feeling your best. Aside from doing my own minimal eyebrow maintenance at home with tweezers, I have had my eyebrows waxed a few times. I think a lot of guys are afraid to get it done because they think they’ll look feminine, but actually they just help keep things clean looking and not out of control (just like anything else). What I had never done was eyebrow threading… until recently.
With the recent opening at the Shangri-La, Bombay Brow Bar now boast three locations, with one in Yaletown and another in Kitsilano. After our brief consultation with our Brow Sculptresses (essentially telling them that we each wanted to keep our brows masculine/natural-looking and just cleaned up), the women went to work. I was so fascinated by the process. It’s one of those skills that would take years to master. Essentially, using thread, they are able to remove an entire row of hair at once, resulting in a straighter line than with plucking. In comparison to waxing, I found that threading was much quicker and that the results were better. It’s completely affordable (around the $20 range) and you’re done before you know it. They recommend getting it done every 3-4 weeks.
Don’t let the pink decor fool you. They have a big male clientele that take pride in maintaining well-groomed brows. Check out some of the pics below and a photo of me getting mine done.

Here I am checking out the results partway through the process.
