It’s been almost 10 years since Jamie Bell first graced the silver screen as the lovable ballet dancing Billy Elliot. Fast forward to today when I came across a promo movie still for an upcoming movie, “The Eagle of the Ninth” starring Channing Tatum. I couldn’t believe Jamie Bell is now full-grown and looking pretty damn sexy all muddied up holding a sword- Roman soldier fantasy much.
Here’s the synopsis found on IMDB.com
In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian’s Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the lost legion’s golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.
Since garnering worldwide fame in “Billy Elliot”, Bell has starred as the young Jimmy in “King Kong”, “Jumper” with Hayden Christiansen and “Defiance”. He’s been romantically linked to Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen), and the two were both featured in Green Day’s “Wake Me Up When September Ends” music video.
Besides, sharing the screen with Tatum in “The Eagle of the Ninth”, he’s also attached to take on the title role in the film “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn”. The film is penciled in for a US release date of December 2011. BOO. I loved Tintin growing up and now I have to wait practically two years to see this film.
Before I sign off, I thought I’d add a gratuitous picture of Channing Tatum (swoon). Be sure to check out the film when it drops in Fall 2010. I’m sure there will be a lot of homo-erotic symbolism images we can all drool over.
