Benjamin Norris, a 32-year-old from Victoria just won Big Brother Australia, getting $250,000. That being said, the real prize came after.
His partner (who’s name is also Ben) came up to the stage to see him, after being apart for so long. Benjamin then explained that he brought something into the house, and whether or not he was evicted on Day 1 or made it to the end, he was going to do this… and he got down on one knee. They got so caught up in the moment, Benjamin then said, “I almost forgot to say the words … Will you marry me?” The answer was a definite “YES!” Such a touching moment and my eyes definitely started to water.
Benjamin explained, “This is the diamond my great-grandfather bought for my great-grandmother and it was there on my parents’ wedding day,” he said. “Since I met Ben, I wanted him to be part of my family.” The two Bens have been nicknamed “The Benjamites” by the gay community who supported Ben along the way in the house. Watch the amazing moment below.

To see something captured live on television, that’s progress. And to hear the roaring applause from the audience makes me very happy. Congrats to the wonderful couple.
