Just how badly is Beyonce’s new single bombing? Let me put it this way. Kelly Rowland’s latest track, “Motivation” is actually beating her on both the Billboard and iTunes charts. Somewhere out there my little Kelly is basking in a bit of karmic revenge.
Ever since Bee’s “Run The World (Girls)” premiered, it’s experienced a free fall never felt by Mrs. Jay-Z. It debuted at a lackluster #33 on the Billboard 100. Then dropped to #48 in its second week and #65 in the third. It’ll be interesting to see how far it’s fallen this week. Meanwhile, Kelly is slowly rising up the charts. This week she sits at #31 on Billboard’s Top 100 and #3 on the R&B Charts. Way to go Kelly. Then when you factor in Kelly’s collaboration with Alex Gaudino on the infectious dance anthem, “What A Feeling“, she’s in for a great summer.
Before anyone knew Girls would bomb so badly, Beyonce enlisted Francis Lawrence for a lavish music video shoot. No one could’ve imagined the public’s reaction to the track. Judging by the video teaser, it looks like a lot of money was spent on it. Definitely epic in its scope. The music video was supposed to premiere tonight at midnight, but just moments ago, VEVO tweeted there would be a delay.
“OK, bad news:”Run This World (Girls)” won’t be out on Fri. like we thought. :-( No new date yet. @Beyonce is perfecting it… We’re disappointed too but wanted to let you know as soon as we knew. We’ll out it up as soon as we do get it!”
YOWZA. Couple the dismal chart performance and the music video delay with her recent boo’ing at the Met Gala last week by photographers, Beyonce is definitely having a reversal of fortune.
I can’t stand the song, but the video looks tight. That said, I think the track is beyond salvageable at this point, but you never know. What do you think? Do you think Beyonce can run the world with this track or has Kelly Rowland finally topped her frenemy. Speaking of which. Just in case you haven’t seen Kelly’s hotness in “Motivation“, check it out below.

I think Bey can pull this back. Let’s just remember she hasn’t done any press interviews to promote the single and once she performs this song live then we’ll see this song shoot back up the charts easily. I’m just anxiously waiting for this video to drop.
