After months of speculation, H&M made it official today. Beyoncé is the company’s new cover girl, replacing singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey who held that position for about a year. Not only is Bey fronting the ad campaign, but she worked on the new collection as well. H&M head designer Ann-Sofie Johansson revealed, “what makes these pieces even more special is that Beyoncé herself had input in the designs, and they are full of her own personal style.” The new collection is tentatively slated to hit stores in the beginning of May.
“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements — fire, water, earth and wind. It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial.” – Beyonce
Photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin better known as Inez & Vinoodh shot the print and billboard images in the Bahamas. The Swedish retailer unveiled the first image today with Mrs. Carter wearing the “key pieces you need for life in the sun this summer.” The ads will feature the tagline, “Beyonce as Mrs. Carter in H&M.” Obviously an attempt to tie her latest endorsement deal with her upcoming “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.” The campaign will also include a commercial directed by Jonas Akerlund and will feature a new track from B titled, “Standing On The Sun.” Check out the first image below.

What do you think of the first visual? Is Beyoncé a better fit for H&M than Lana Del Rey? Sound off below.

Eh… Lana was better. But, to be fair, Beyonce is pretty much H&M’s target consumer. Lana’s a spoiled rich girl so.. Guess it makes more sense.

Lana Del Rey, cuz she’s just there without any emotions in her ads but I wanna fucking buy everything in her line even if i’m a dude. and beyonce she’s done that a lot of times so it’s just like “meh” to me. and the lynchian TV ad is actually really artistic and so lana del rey. H&M just needs to make bigger boom.

Lana Del Rey’s more real life? Seriously? With her fake nose, fake lips, and fake name?
