Betty Who is switching things up for her new era. She’s ditched her signature short ‘do and now rocking a killer bob with bangs. I approve of the new look. In addition, she’s swapping out her synth-pop sound and returning to her singer-songwriter roots. Also, another savvy move. Wasn’t expecting this, but I’m loving her new track.
“Between You & Me” is the lead single off her forthcoming third studio record titled Betty out February 15, 2019. The LP marks a huge milestone in her career, as it will be the first independent album she releases. Betty will contain three tracks from Betty Pt. 1 – “Ignore Me,” “Just Thought You Should Know” and “Taste” – which was released earlier this year.
“I wanted ‘Between You & Me’ to come first because it felt so reminiscent of my early singer-songwriter days. When I listen to it, I imagine that 15-year-old me would love this song,” Betty says of her decision to make this song the debut single. “Especially since it’s about not being able to put into words how you feel when you’re around the person you’re singing to. It’s not a confession of love, it’s a voice in your head narrating your time with them.”
“Between You & Me” is a tender acoustic-pop gem produced by Peter Thomas. It’s a flirty track about wanting to take the next step. “Just between you and me/I can feel something here/Wondering if you do too,” she sings on the track. Give it a spin below.
