It’s that time of year where most people get out their decoration boxes, start decorating their houses and trees. When you open that box after almost 11 months, one of the most exciting things is breaking out those old Christmas albums (or going out and buying a new one).
I have three Christmas favorites that I simply adore and are staples for me every holiday season. Each one has a special purpose and moment to be played and each one brings back so many memories of past seasons and makes me excited to experience another holiday with my family and friends. Check all three out below!
Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas is one of my all time favorites for Christmas music. She uses her exceptional voice to deliver some amazing songs without over singing and making it sound too commercial or annoying. Everyone remembers All I Want For Christmas Is You from the amazing Christmas themed rom-com Love Actually!
Holiday Moment: Blasting on your iPod as you brave the massive crowds searching for those perfect Christmas gifts all bundled up in a coat with gloves and a scarf.
“I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don’t care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree”
There’s nothing like a crooner with a little big band sound to liven up the holdays with some old classics. My mom bought this album years ago and puts it on every Christmas as we sit down to dinner. It’s definitely a classic in my books. If you haven’t heard this check it out!
Holiday Moment: Sitting down to a big holiday feast with all of your family and friends while some of the most classic Christmas tunes play in the background
“Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling, “You hoo”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you”
Four years ago I lost someone very close to me shortly before Christmas and my family had a really tough holiday season. This album, with its heavy use of piano and slower tempo songs really set the mood for a calmer, more relaxed Christmas season. This is definitely my all time favorite Christmas album because it is very sentimental and personal for me.
Holiday Moment: After Christmas Eve dinner, sitting down by the fire with a glass of red wine, or a nice boozy coffee drink, watching the snow fall outside.
“And this is how I see you
In the snow on Christmas morning
Love an happiness surround you
As you throw your arms up to the sky
I keep this moment by and by”
Do you guys have any favorite Christmas/Holiday albums? Let me know below so I can check them out! Happy Holidays!
