He’s already conquered Broadway and now Ben Platt is setting his sights on Billboard. The 25-year-old Dear Evan Hansen sensation shares the first two cuts off his eagerly-awaited debut album. “Bad Habit” and “Ease My Mind” herald the release of Platt’s full-length LP, Sing To Me Instead, due everywhere on Friday, March 29.
“Bad Habit” is the official lead cut. It’s about the addictive nature of some relationships. Platt revealed to EW.com. “It’s sung from the perspective of someone looking retrospectively at a relationship that they have gotten out of and realizing that it’s someone they can’t seem to escape,” he explains. “There’s an attraction and comfort to someone that might not be the right person for us, but there’s an [undeniable] connection where you can’t help but go back again and again.”
Check out the official music video below directed by Nick Lieberman, along with “Ease My Mind.” I actually prefer the latter. Listen to both and weigh in afterward if you agree or disagree with me.
