There was a collective groan when it was first announced that Ben Affleck had been chosen to play The Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. For those hoping that it was just a one-off appearance, you’re SOL. Not only will the 42-year-old actor be starring in a standalone Batman film, but he’ll also direct and co-write it. ZOINKS!!! Clearly, Warner Bros has a serious hard-on for Affleck.
Deadline first broke the news. The media outlet reveals DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns is set to co-write the film with the Gone Girl actor. The movie will reportedly be set after the events of Dawn of Justice and the Justice League film. A 2017 or 2018 release date is being considered.
