Watch Matt Damon & Michael Douglas Get Intimate & ‘Interactive’ In Behind The Candelabra

After a couple of teasers, HBO finally releases a full-length trailer for its upcoming Liberace biopic, Behind The Candelabra. As expected, it’s a whole lot of glitter, glamor and gayness. I can’t wait to see it.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh (Magic Mike), the HBO film is based on a 1988 memoir, Behind The Candelabra: My Life With Liberace written by Scott Thorson. Matt Damon plays him in the TV movie. It follows his secretive five-year relationship with flamboyant singer Liberace (Michael Douglas). The two met through an introduction by Hollywood film producer Ray Arnett. Liberace then hires Thorson as his companion. ”Why would a grown man want to adopt another grown man?” says someone to Damon in the video.

In the brand new trailer, we see Damon and Douglas fight and get intimate through their tumultuous time together. Douglas showers his young lover with fancy cars, fancier capes and anything money can buy. He even brings him to a plastic surgeon to cosmetically alter him to resemble a younger version of Liberace. The film also stars Dan Aykroyd, Scott Bakula, Debbie Reynolds and Rob Lowe. It premieres on the network on May 26 at 9pm. Watch the trailer below.

soderbergh made a thriller from a love gay story. douglas always target his performances on the center of the character. i see liberace through him and this is the goal every actor pursuits on his career. damon is correct but not less brilliant. yeah they click. next gay cult.

I just don’t think this has the audience it hopes for. Liberace is old old news. Kids today won’t get it. Ok, Matt Damon, awesome, but in this role? Nah. Doesn’t interest me at all.

having seen liberace numerous times on television and in concert and after viewing two previous liberace biopics, i’d say that michael douglas is no liberace. they did get the sets right though.

I watched this an “forgot” it’s gay. It’s history of what the world was like back then. Liberace was very very very gay and talented artist/ entertainer. Would I have been interested in seeing him in concert – NO.
But like anything like, Boogie nights, and those kind of movies that actually depict an era it’s WATCHABLE!
