True Blood our heart’s pumping with that racy cover of Rolling Stone’s magazine…and now Next Magazine has brought it back to life in a …more gay way. Gerald McCullouch, Joe Conti and Stephen Guarino star in the gay film, BearCity. The three men cover the next issue of Next Magazine, hitting the shelves tomorrow for the October 22nd Issue. The issue also features an interview with Judith Light, discussing all of the unfortunate teen suicides.

The film, about a timid young cub named Tyler (Joe Conti) who sets his sights on foxy, older alpha male Roger (Gerald McCullouch), is something of a love letter to New York’s vibrant bear community. The film has done exceptionally well and there’s promise for a second…

The film has been a hit at LGBT film festivals—nabbing screenwriting and acting awards at Los Angeles’ OutFest—and sold out almost everywhere it’s played, so a sequel seems like a foregone conclusion. “We are writing a second one now,” Langway reveals. “We expect to shoot in July 2011 for festival inclusion in 2012. It’s going to continue the story…but there’ll be a reason they go to San Francisco.” For his cast wish list, Ferber sets the bar pretty high: “I want Lady Gaga in full prosthetics à la Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder,” he jokes, “and cameos from Kevin Smith, Kevin James and Zach Galifianakis.” Given the strength and generosity of the bear community—it could just happen.

As mentioned, the issue also features an exclusive interview with gay activist and actress Judith Light:
“These things have been happening forever. I mean, it’s Matthew Shepard all over again,” Light said to us about the recent surge in hate crimes, suicides and gay bulling. “What happens is we all tend to forget. You can’t walk away from it anymore; it is in everyone’s face. We have to look at ourselves and say, ‘What kind of human beings are we that we see these things and we don’t do anything about it?’”
