Last year CBS banned a commercial featuring two men kissing, now it’s Fox’s turn to yield the axe. The network has decided to ixnay a 30-second clip by the conservative comedy site, JesusHatesObama.com . The site specializes in selling t-shirts, mugs, hats and pretty much anything as long as it’s has the message of Jesus hating Obama plastered all over it. Site founder, Richard Belfry released the following statement:
“Do I really believe (that) Jesus really hates Obama? No, but I do believe in freedom… as in the freedom to poke fun at the Obama administration when I don’t agree with their policies.”
Personally, I don’t see why Fox would ban the commercial. I don’t find it at all offensive. The only thing that I find offensive is that the site has enough money to shell out for one of the most expensive slots ever, and this is all they came up with. It certainly isn’t a Betty White Snickers ad. Fox should really consider just letting it air and cash the cheque. By banning it, you’re only giving the commercial more media coverage than it would’ve received come Super Bowl Sunday. Watch the commercial and see what you think?
