Most artists love to change up their image and play around with their sound with each new album they drop. Madonna practically made reinvention into an art form. And then there’s Avril Lavigne. She declares she never wants to grow up in her new song and apparently that’s true for her real life as well. I can’t think of another female singer who’s changed her image less during her career. She practically looks the same as she did when she debuted in 2002 with “Complicated.”
Speaking of which, Lavigne’s new single sounds an awfully lot like her first chart-topper. “Here’s To Never Growing Up” has very similar sounding chiming guitars in the background as “Complicated.” If the 28-year-old Canadian films the music video in a shopping mall food court, I’ll just die laughing. Talk about coming full circle.
“Here’s To Never Growing Up” is the lead single from her upcoming fifth studio album. LA Reid revealed to Billboard back in September that Lavigne’s album had “just completed.” It’s odd that they’re just releasing the first single now, with still no title or release date for the LP. Check out her new single below which oddly references Radiohead. I would’ve never pictured her a fan of the “Creep” group.

What do you think of her new song? Do you think she should grow up? As much as I’m a fan of staying youthful, I highly suggest she change up her image just a tad. That “Sk8er Boi” look is so early 2000s. Sound off below.
