Australians recently voted in favor of same-sex marriage through a postal survey conducted by the federal government. Australia Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is hoping to have same-sex marriage legalized by Christmas.

During Parliament’s debate on this bill today, an Australian MP giving a speech on marriage equality proposed to his gay partner. “This debate has been the soundtrack to our relationship,” Wilson acknowledging his partner’s patience during this fight.

Near the end of his speech Tim Wilson (37) popped the question. “There’s only one thing left to do: Ryan Patrick Bolger, will you marry me?” Wilson added to applause. Watch the heartwarming moment below.
