‘Atlanta’ Renewed For Season 3

Make it a hat trick for Donald Glover. FX just renewed Atlanta for a third season. No premiere date for Season 3 was announced but I fear it might be a wait. It took 16 months for Season 2 to arrive after Season 1 ended.

“Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done,” FX Networks and FX Productions programming president Nick Grad via statement. “We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”

Atlanta debuted to critical acclaim back in 2016. It earned two Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes and AFI, Peabody, PGA, WGA, TCA, NAACP and Critics’ Choice Awards for its inaugural run. For its sophomore season, the series nabbed the best ratings of any recent basic cable comedy. Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz also star.
