Arnold Gets The Law & Order SVU Treatment & More Cast Changes

Once again Dick Wolf is ripping from the headlines. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s baby scandal will get the SVU treatment and be loosely interpreted for the upcoming 13th season. Instead of being an actor-turned-politician, the character will be a philanthropist from New York aristocracy. He’ll be married to a woman protective of her family in the vein of Maria Shriver. Just like real life, her character will have her world unraveled when she learns of a bastard child.

Schwarzenegger’s real life infidelity didn’t result in a murder so the writing team will take liberties and incorporate a sex crime/murder into the mix. Rumor has it, the SVU version will heavily involve the son of Schwarzenegger/Shriver’s alter egos. The episode will air early on in the season. Season 13 of “Law & Order: SVU” will premiere on Sept 21.

By now you know, SVU is going through a bit of a makeover. Mariska Hargitay will be appearing in only half the episodes and Chris Meloni won’t appear in any. They’ll be replaced by Danny Pino and Kelly Giddish. Thankfully, two fan favorites are returning to prosecute cases for the SVU unit. Stephanie March and Diane Neal are reprising their roles and will be alternating episodes.

The latest cast shake-up to rock the SVU world is the departure of B.D. Wong. He’s been on the show portraying Dr. George Huang since Season 2. Wong is jumping ship to another NBC show, “Awake”, which will air midseason. He’ll once again portray a psychiatrist in “Awake“. The drama stars Jason Isaacs as a police detective who’s involved in a traumatic car accident and wakes up in two fractured realities.
