Ariana Grande Samples Classic ‘Sound Of Music’ Track For Trap Bop ‘7 Rings’ (Music Video)

Damn girl. Ariana Grande is on fire these days. She just released another fantastic track off her forthcoming album. With “Thank U, Next,” “Imagine” and now “7 Rings,” her fifth studio album is already better than Sweetener. Minus “Breathin‘” and “No Tears Left To Cry,” can we just pretend that LP never happened 😉

7 Rings” is a trap-inspired bop that samples The Sound Of Music classic “My Favorite Things.” An absolutely genius move by the musical-loving Grande. It’s about the 25-year-old singer’s new-found strength and sense of independence after her turbulent year. And it’s sassy to boot. My favorite line has to be, “You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it.” Ari definitely knows her audience.

“Wearing a ring but not cause I’m no Mrs./Bought matching diamonds for six of my bitches, I’d rather spoil all my friends with riches/Think retail therapy my new addiction,” Grande sings before affirming, “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it.”

Reportedly, an impromptu Tiffanys shopping spree fueled by some champagne inspired Grande to pen the track. She purchased seven rings, ergo the title track, for herself and her BFFs Victoria Monét, Tayla Parx, Courtney Chipolone, Njozma, Alexa Luria and Kaydence. All of whom are featured in the music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis.
