Just days after announcing The Trench, a spinoff horror movie to Aquaman, Warner Bros. has revealed David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been hired to write the script for Aquaman 2. He also wrote the script for the first film.
He’s not the only one returning. James Wan and Peter Safran are also set to return to produce. It’s unclear if Wan will take on directing duties again.
Prior to the release of Aquaman, the superhero was sort of a joke in the comic book world. Guess who has the last laugh. Not only did Aquaman break the $1.1 billion mark at the global box office, but it’s become the highest-grossing DCEU film as well as the highest-grossing film based on a DC Comics character, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises. It’s also the 21st highest-grossing film of all-time.
Excited that Aquaman 2 is in the pipeline? Did you enjoy Jason Momoa as the titular superhero? Sound off below.
