We’re only a few days before ANTM Cycle 18 premieres, so I thought it was a perfect time to get to know the seven American and seven British girls battling it out for their country in the first international cycle of ANTM. Officially titled, “America’s Next Top Model: British Invasion“, Cycle 18 will pit seven all new ANTM hopefuls against former contestants from “Britain’s Next Top Model“. In other words, it’s the Brit All-Stars versus Yankee newbies. It’s the Revolutionary War all over again but on the runway this time around. Catch all the action on Wednesday, February 29 when Cycle 18 premieres. Be sure to come back tomorrow as I’ll have preview pics from the first episode.
I’m on the fence about this twist, but one thing I’m 100% on board for, is the addition of Kelly Cutrone on the panel. LOVE HER. Too bad, she wasn’t replacing Nigel Barker instead of Andre Leon Talley. I’ll definitely miss ALT and all her fabulous robes. Filling out the guest panel spot this cycle are an assortment of American and British personalities. Guest judges include Kelly Osbourne, Kris Jenner, Georgina Chapman, Estelle, Beverly Johnson, Nadine Coyle (Girls Aloud), Jessica Sutta (Pussycat Dolls), Cat Deeley, Barney Cheng, Nicolas Tse and Jez Smith.
What are the girls vying for? Well, it’s another “career-launching” prize package- a hodge podge of prizes from various cycles . Surprisingly, Italian Vogue is still involved. I thought Franca Sozzani would’ve bolted after Talley left. I guess she made a deal with the devil Tyra.
Prizes include a modeling contract with LA/NY Models, a chance to be a guest correspondent on the hit newsmagazine “Extra,” a fashion spread in Vogue Italia and the cover and spread in Beauty In Vogue, the face of “America’s Next Top Model” perfume Dream Come True, a single to be released with CBS and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics. UGH, get ready for another music video challenge. Check out the ladies who’ll be competing for this “career making” bounty below.

Who do you think will win this season? A Brit or a Yank? Which guest judge are you looking forward to the most. Personally, I’m excited to see the lovely Jessica Sutta grace my screen. Share all your thoughts on the upcoming cycle below.

tyra needs to out from the judging panel and bring mr.j and ms.j into it..and i think they should make a next top model all stars worldwide, not just american and british. And this cycle they even not include the judges from BNTM..antm actually for me the weakest cycle (since cycle 17), acting, music video, flat photoshoot, it’s not even modelling and also some not fan favorite model..

I think ANTM needs an “INTERNATIONAL” Cycle! They can call it “Cycle 21; International Clash”! They can chose 1 model from Vietnam, Korea, Japan, China, Britain, Australia, Mexico, Italy, and of course America to create an international clash! This will give ANTM tons of buzz.

Bhahaha Slade. So funny. Tyrant is awful. Top Model is fun. Making fun of Tyrant is even more fun. I’ll be extra bitchy in my recaps just for you! <3

These are some of my favourite British girls. I hope Tyra doesn’t screw them over! Louise is great, she should have won her cycle. I groaned when Sofie and Alisha made it though. Look at Alisha’s photo’s from her cycle and compare them to her promo shot. Seriously, it’s the same damn pose every single time! Ugh…

Gah! Catharine looks just like Natalie from cycle 12 of ANTM. I’m praying she doesn’t have the same attitude.
My #1 reason for being excited about the new cycle starting soon: Wonderfully snarky recaps. :)

I know hometown shouldn’t affect which girls make it into the show. But i’m dissappoint by the lack of variety in the British girls
The American girls all come from different parts of the country and are going to bring different American cultural flavours…..you’ve got Southern, West Coast, East Cost….the Lot
The British girls (or I should say English, plus 1 Scot) are mostly from London or the Home Counties (counties surrounding London)……Why no Northerners?
It would have been interesting to a mix of British accents in there…a Northern Irish Girl, another Scott, evern a Tyke Lass, Scouser or Geordie would have been hilarious!
Also my money is on Alisha being the bitch of the series….Croydon girl mean business!!!

Even though I’m a Bostonian I’m rotting for Catherine (UK). I’m very worry about the drama queens in this cycle. I predicting Azmarie might be one of them. I really want a cycle like cycle 13 where almost everybody were friends and their weren’t any real haters.

Well, Rich.. I think that at some point you’ll need to incorporate the following:
barney – a small quarrel or fight.
cheeky- impertinent
chucked (out)- thrown out; expelled
daft – odd, mad, eccentric, daffy, crazy
fortnight- a period of 14 days (and nights) or two weeks
fringe -bangs, as in describing collective strands of hair covering part or all of the forehead
gob – mouth, e.g. “Shut yer gob”
gobsmacked – (slang) utterly astonished, open-mouthed
knickers – girls’ and women’s underpants
loo – toilet (usually the room, not just the plumbing device)
nutter- (informal) a crazy or insane person, often violent;
prat – (slang) an incompetent or ineffectual person
row – a fight or argument (rhymes with cow)
sack – to be released from work
strop -(informal) bad mood or temper
throw a wobbly – (informal) to lose one’s temper, throw a tantrum
whinge – (informal) complain, whine, especially repeated complaining about minor things
To get you started : ) Can’t wait!
